How Can You Join ILO?

There are TWO ways to become a member of ILO.

Become an ILO Community Group Member

The ILO Community Group is a unique members-only group that operates within the wider ILO community.

It was created to provide an opportunity for individuals with disabilities and their families to join the ILO community without committing to full membership in ILO. Members of the ILO Community Group have access to the social and recreational activities and workshops organized by the ILO Community Group as well as the Full Life™ Skills Inventory assessment.

The ILO group is a community that provides members with the opportunity to make meaningful connections and build relationships. These relationships and connections are the building blocks of the networks of support that are the cornerstone of ILO’s community building philosophy.

Become an ILO Participating Family

ILO Participating families are full members of ILO.

Participating families have a self-advocate involved in ILO; have participated in ILO’s two-day training and their self-advocate has taken the Full Life™ Skills Inventory Assessment or will take this assessment within a year of joining. The two-day training helps families understand the ILO’s philosophy about community building. The Full Life™ Skills Inventory Assessment identifies daily living skills that need to be developed.

Participating families and their self-advocates engage with the community builder in their chosen pod. They work on developing and improving independent living skills, and build the relationships that strengthen their personal network of support. Participating families attend quarterly participating family meetings, pod meetings, fundraisers, committee meetings, and so on. Most importantly participating family members are full members of the ILO community.
